Coaches


Andy Green:

Andy Green was appointed Head Coach in April 2008 having previously been Senior Rowing Coach at Headington School, Oxford. As a student Andy rowed for Imperial College Boat Club (1991-1994) and twice won at Henley Royal Regatta, the Ladies Plate (1992) and Visitors Challenge Cup (1994). He also represented Great Britain at the 1992 Under 23 World Championships, and England at the 1994 Commonwealth Rowing Championships, where he won a bronze medal in the coxless four. Professionally Andy is a practicing chiropractor and has been coaching since 1998, first at Imperial College and hen at Headington School. In his seven years at Headington Andy was enormously successful winning National Schools medals every year and consistently performing strongly at Henley Women's Regatta, the Women's Eight Head of the River Race and School's Head. Members of Headington School Oxford Boat Club gained selection for the GB junior team every year under Andy's leadership. Andy is keen to encourage this GB progression at OUWBC by developing a clear pathway for athletes to achieve the goal of GB Under 23 or Senior squad status.


Megan Patrick:

Megan Patrick has been an assistant coach at OUWBC since 2006 and is herself a blue having coxed two winning Blue Boats, 2004 and 2006. Megan began her coxing career in Princeton (1998-2001) winning Eastern Sprints in three of these four years. Megan is currently completing a D.Phil in Education at Oxford University and since being in Oxford has coxed for OUBC (Isis 2003), Oxford Brookes and OUWBC. She was highly successful at BUSA winning Championship Eights with OUWBC in 2004 and competing in EUSA with Oxford Brookes. She has also had strong results at Henley as Ladies Plate finalist (2001), Britannia Cup semi-finalist (2003) and Remenham Cup quarter-finalist (2004). As well as coaching rowers Megan is able to offer her considerable experience to the club's coxes which proves invaluable preparation for both the Henley Boat Races and the Women's Eights Head.


Chris Reid:

A former national champion, Chris Reid has been assistant coach at OUWBC since 2006. Chris started his rowing career at Wycliffe College, sculling as a junior under the coaching of former coach of the year Matthew Hackett. Following a successful junior career he rowed at Durham University, representing the university at major events including BUSA and the northern equivalent of the boat race, the annual Durham-Newcastle Boat Race. Coaching since moving to Oxford, he brings a strong desire for excellence and a passion for discovering the champions of tomorrow to the role.
